This week, we are delighted to share with you a wonderful story sent over to us by the team over at Community Housing in Worcestershire. Community Housing has recently added our Uccello Kettle and Grip Mat bundle to their product offering on their website.
They are one of the largest providers of social housing in Worcestershire. They offer a variety of homes and housing-related services. Community Housing has recently asked the lovely Margarete to test and try our assistive living product range at home. Today, we would love to share her story.
Margarete’s new kettle has changed her life!
Margarete is 85 years young and currently lives on her own. She lives with arthritis and has a hand tremor but wishes to remain in her own home and remain as safe and independent as possible.
With the arthritis and the tremor this can make life difficult for her, especially when it comes to getting about the kitchen. The kettle itself has become difficult and dangerous to use. She has scalded herself on numerous occasions and is becoming quote anxious about using it.
I found it frustrating not being able to make a coffee safely on my own, and I had always enjoyed having the neighbours or friends around for a coffee and a chat. I had difficulty lifting, filling and pouring it without spilling it and it was getting worse.
Thanks to the team over at Community Housing, Margarete received a demonstration of the Uccello Kettle and Grip Mat bundle. She couldn’t get over the difference they made. Thanks to the tilting cradle of the kettle, she can now pour a cup of coffee without worry. For Margarete, even filling the kettle is easier due to its lightweight design and easy-one-touch-to-open hinged lid.
It wasn’t long after that that she bought herself the bundle for her own home and shared her feedback with the Community Housing team.
It’s marvelous, such a clever design that works well. Now, I do not have to go without a hot drink. As it is so easy to pour from. I use it to fill my hot water bottle too which is something else I had to stop doing with my traditional kettle. Having the non-slip grip mat is a great idea too and has help me in different ways. I even use the mat to help me get a better grip to open bottles and jars.
I now have friends round for coffee and cake and I was able to make them tea/coffee!!
Once the tea is made and you want to move to your favourite chair or even the kitchen table to enjoy. Arthritis and tremors can make transport of the hot coffee can be dangerous with drips and spills. The risk of burns and scalds can increase. With our Muggi Cup Holder, it catches any potential drips and spills so it is safer to transport hot drinks.
Of course, it’s not just for tea, you can transport your tea, phone, bottle of water and even some sweet treats like your favourite biscuits.
With the aid of the Muggi Cup Holder (which I bought shortly after the Uccello Kettle and Grip Mat), it was possible to carry the drinks out unaided!
When you are younger and more able, you take things like this for granted, but as you get older, this means a lot. With the help of products like the Uccello Kettle, I feel safer and more confident in my home.
Margarete proving that you don’t need to loose your independence as you get older!
