Is there anything better than a hot cup of tea on a cold day? Something to warm your hands and south the soul.
With the world the way it is right now, we are all worried about the costs of running the home and the kettle plays a big part in that. In the UK today over 100 million cups of tea are drank each day. Imagine the bill. With winter just around the corner and Jack Frost promising to nip at your nose, the kettle is about to go into overtime.
That is why we wanted to share a few savvy tips on how to make your kettle work for you and how to make it more energy efficient and keep the bill down. Let us know if you have any other tips we could add to this post below in our comment section.
How to Make Your Kettle More Energy Efficient:
Anyone up for a cuppa?
When you’re popping the kettle on, have you ever noticed the sudden eyebrow raise or grin of a family member to add them in? While that might be annoying, it can certainly help you keep usage to a minimum.
Asking around can help you reduce multiple boils every hour.
Make sure you only boil what you need:
It costs more to boil a full kettle or more than you actually need. Next time when you go to pop the kettle on, make sure to only boil what’s needed. Maybe you could fill it with your chosen cup so you have the exact amount each time. Just make sure to ask around first.
Descale to enjoy:
Did you know that living in an area with hard water can mean that you end up paying more for your energy? Hard water can add up to 28% more on your annual bill.
Limescale can be found on any household appliance that works with hot water. It’s the white chalk material that leaves a crusty residue in its wake. With limescale it means that your kettle (and other appliances) has to work harder to boil and this will increase costs.
How can to remove limescale from your kettle:
We are a big fan of Oust to remove limescale in the kettle. It’s reasonably priced, quick and easy to use:
- Half fill your Uccello Kettle with water and put onto boil.
- Unplug it and bring the body to the kitchen sink.
- Pour your Oust sachet into the water and leave for 10 minutes.
- Rinse and boil again with clean water.
- Rinse one last time and voila. Good as new.
Need a new kettle?
Not to worry, you can get your very own Uccello Kettle right here in a range of colours.
