The word is getting out about the Uccello Kettle, people are loving the safety, the style, and the confidence they have gained with our Kettle and we couldn’t’ be happier. In fact, it was Sandra in Swansea that put the icing on the cake when she sent a glowing customer review of our Uccello Kettle to one of our partners in the UK after buying it from them.
Sandra’s Review
I am 64 years old and have had severe Rheumatoid Arthritis for 30 years and I am registered as disabled. I’ve had a number of operations for Rheumatoid Arthritis, including replacement knuckles on both hands. My thumb on my right hand-wired and fixed and my right wrist has partly fused on its own.
The Competition
I am using at present a disabled tippy cradle metal kettle holder with a base for a large conventional kettle, which is not very user-friendly. It takes up a large area on my work surface and if by any chance the lid is not 100% put back on correctly, on pouring, the water spits and steam escapes. Many a time, I have burnt my hand. When the lid is on correctly, pouring water, it spills onto the work surface. I have to leave a large tray underneath the kettle holder to catch the spilled water.
I also have a small disabled tippy cradle metal kettle holder, which holds a tall plastic jug kettle. This I have discarded as it is not very secure, and I found it unsafe for use.
Two years ago it was suggested I purchase a “one cup” machine. Initially, I thought it was good but if you do not change the setting to correspond with the size of the cup or mug, it either pours too much water, which overflows everywhere, which is dangerous or does not fill the cup enough. Also, you cannot fill anything tall from it. My opinion is that for the disabled or elderly the “one cup” is not suitable. It is a little complicated and easy to forget to change the settings.
The Winner
I have now had the opportunity to test the Uccello kettle, which impressed me immediately. If you are disabled or elderly, the usual look of a product is not of the utmost importance. It’s whether or not it’s going to fulfill the use it was designed for. However, my first impression of the Uccello kettle is that it’s chic and modern looking in design and compact enough to suit the smallest of kitchen worktops. It is also easy to wipe clean.
Being a 1.5 litre capacity kettle, there is sufficient water to make several cups of tea/coffee. If a disabled/elderly person has a Carer and they need the Carer to fill the kettle for them. Once the kettle’s boiled, the clever design of the handle makes it light as a feather to pour. This is very good for disabled/elderly person, even when the kettle is full to capacity.
I personally can’t lift the whole kettle from its cradle to take it to the tap to fill with water. The press-button lid is easy to use. If my husband’s not around, I can fill it through the lid by using a small jug. It also has sufficient height for pouring water into a tall mug if a non-disabled person needs it.
In my opinion, the Uccello kettle is the best kettle I have come across for the disabled or elderly.
